Young Alabama Man Suffers Critical Injuries in a Wrong-Way Collision

When Alabama drivers get behind the wheel of a car or truck they don’t usually expect to experience a serious wrong-way collision. However, due to another driver’s negligence or recklessness behind the wheel, tragic wrong-way accidents happen all too frequently.

Loved ones of the victim are left to deal with severe injuries or even death. Alabama law protects family members and seriously injured victims, and they have the right to pursue justice on behalf of their departed or injured loved one.

One such tragedy recently occurred when an Alabama woman collided with another vehicle in a wrong-way accident.

An Alabama woman was charged with a DUI crash that left a 24-year-old man critically injured. She faces felony criminal charges and was released on $15,000 bond.

The driver is charged with a first-degree assault in a head-on crash that occurred on U.S. 31 in Homewood. The injured man, a full-time college student and restaurant driver-manager, was driving northbound when his vehicle was hit by the woman, who was driving the wrong way.

The victim was treated for severe injuries to his legs and left arm at UAB Hospital. Part of the left arm was amputated. Both of his leg bones were shattered. He has suffered multiple surgeries in the aftermath of the collision.

Alabama wrong-way collision accidents may result in litigation if the injured victim or his or her close family members elect to exercise their right to file a personal injury legal claim in court. Although no adequate justice exists for the loss of a life or severe permanent injuries, a successfully litigated lawsuit can provide financial compensation to assist the injured person and his or her loved ones and help offset the tremendous costs incurred by a tragic accident.
